Paul Hoover's "God's Promises"

Taut was a hot potato getting played with circa 2004-6 in MFAland. How I cringed.

Anyways, here are two . . . nicely reserved lines resonate with strong commentary (I dare "critique") of the human spirit  | :-) |

Squibble all you want about the power of poetry, and whether it can change lives, but a poem can be as effective as a gun. Neither is anything but a tool put in the hands of humanity. Such lines as the above are bullets of knowledge. Use them wisely, fellow teachers, fellow students.
